ABOUT OPERATION WALK

Operation Walk is a volunteer medical humanitarian organization that provides the gift of mobility through life-changing joint replacement surgeries at no cost for those in need in both the U.S. and globally. Doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and other volunteers use personal vacation time to travel and care for approximately 75 patients on each four-day trip, and work with local healthcare workers to offer follow up care. Individual patients are cared for throughout the United States on an as-requested basis.

TJO's impact

Total Joint Orthopedics donates one in every ten joints implanted to Operation Walk, and our team members are proudly involved in every facet of the organization. From participating surgeons, to management of trip logistics, to an overwhelming number of volunteers, we are grateful to fulfill Operation Walk's mission of Restoring Mobility.

What's required for an Operation Walk trip?

Each Operation Walk mission requires a medical professional team of 40-45 people, who donate their time and travel costs to perform approximately 70 surgeries over four days. Each trip also includes preoperative screening and follow up care. Operation Walk pays for lodging, food, supplies, medicines, patient hospitalization expenses, and cargo freight. 100% of your tax-deductible gift goes directly to patient care, enabling Operation Walk’s trained team of health care professionals to restore mobility for patients worldwide.
